Steve has extensive experience on both ends of the discovery fence, working inside a law firm for 13 years, and 12 years as a vendor. Learning how document databases work best, has given Steve a broad exposure to a variety of systems, making him versatile in an array of eDiscovery methods and platforms. He remembers the times when eDiscovery was just being born and the processing tools were somewhat crude. Steve is known for being a stickler for efficiency and quality, which has gotten passed down to the people working at C-TEQ.
Steve is a devoted husband and father of three. Outside of work, Steve loves to spend time on the slopes, playing golf, or sailing anywhere he can find open water. One of his first jobs was working as a short-order cook alongside Rachel Dratch – sometimes famous for her SNL character, Debbie Downer. He still serves as a short-order cook at home on the weekend, often for friends and neighbors who just stop by. His dream is to perform mission work in Africa. His retirement plans include being on a ski patrol in Colorado and a sailing captain in the Virgin Islands.
Ben is quite the dynamic character, as he speaks three languages – English, Oromiffa, and Amharic. Perhaps his biggest claim to fame came when he was victorious over Buffalo Wild Wing’s “Blazin’ Wing Challenge”, which is certainly no easy task. Ben is also a very enthusiastic football (soccer in America) fan, and his favorite team is Arsenal of the English Premier League.
Ben received his BA from Augsburg College in MIS & Computer Science. He began his career in the field of litigation support working as an eDiscovery manager. Considering the weather in Minnesota isn’t exactly fantastic, he couldn’t pass up an offer in Nashville, TN from Deloitte & Touche, where he worked for more than five years as an Operations Manager. At Deloitte, Ben was also an Early Data Assessment Consultant on one of the largest pieces of litigation in U.S. history.
Ben is devoted to his family and a trusted friend. He often volunteers his free time to people he knows or people he doesn’t. Ben has an entrepreneurial spirit. He got his start in business as a teenager when he built his own ping pong table and rented it to anyone who wanted to play. The cost was $0.25 per game. Ben made enough money in this venture to pay for his own education.
Judd has a passion for and a gift in finding the best solution to a problem. Even when he’s found the solution, he believes there is always room for improvement especially when it comes to new technologies. Judd’s biggest motivator is making people happy, as his greatest satisfaction comes from exceeding expectations. With more than 25 years of writing software for litigation support purposes, Judd thrives at being able to automate a process, finding the simplest solution, and surprising clients with results. Judd’s talents go well beyond programming. We like to say he does a lot of the heavy lifting on the backend. He also acts as a project manager and helps develop efficient systems, whether we’re rearranging data files, pushing documents to a review platform, or printing large quantities of paper.
Judd enjoys that C-TEQ is small enough to be extraordinarily flexible and accommodating to clients’ needs and requests. Being able to provide custom solutions in a timely fashion is a big reason why Judd chose C-TEQ over some larger firms.
At home, Judd is a busy father of three very active children. He and his wife love spending time with their kids outdoors, camping, fishing, sailing, skiing – you name it. If he’s not writing software, you might see Judd in a pair of Carhartts and work boots volunteering for the YMCA, paddling down a river in a canoe, building a deck for a neighbor, or even playing in a rock band.
